Born in Mexico City on November 23, 1979, Sandra Ortiz Diaz is an esteemed leader whose career at the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt began in 2012. Rising quickly through various roles, she became a member of the Executive Leadership Team by the end of 2020.
With a background in art therapy through theater and a master’s degree in Cultural and Media Management, Sandra worked for a social enterprise “Dialogue Social Enterprise” opening exhibitions of Dialogue in the Dark for over six years. She also worked as an intercultural trainer, moderator, and mentor, living in Mexico, Brazil, Italy, Germany and the United States.
Sandra has significantly impacted the BMW Foundation, pioneering fields such as Venture Philanthropy, Social Entrepreneurship, and the Global Pro-bono Movement. She has led regional efforts in Latin America, shaped the foundation’s 2016 strategy and played a pivotal role in developing the Theory of Change and DEI Strategy.
Sandra excels in clear communication and authenticity, fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility within her team. Her warmth and openness encourage team members to reach their potential, creating a safe environment for learning and boldness. An innovative thinker and connector, she values people, champions equity and transparency, and makes a transformative impact.
