Kady Sylla serves as Myriad USA’s Director for Africa, collaborating closely with U.S.
donors committed to social impact in Africa through philanthropy and overseeing
Myriad USA’s partnerships with African nonprofits and philanthropic and diaspora
networks. She brings vital experience in philanthropy and international development
and has devoted her career to Africa’s social sector.
Kady’s previous experience includes working with both public and private institutions,
such as USAID, Open Society Foundations (OSF), and the UK’s Department for
International Development (DFID). Her passion for social justice and commitment to
social impact in Africa are shaped by her family’s experience of being forced to flee
their home country, Guinea (West Africa), as refugees and resettling in New York.
Kady’s experience as a former political refugee and immigrant is her guiding
principle. This fuels her unwavering commitment to serving others through her
professional work at Myriad USA and her involvement on the boards of impactful
organizations and networks, including NEID Global and MindLeaps Global. She
recently received the Luminaire Award from the African Diaspora Network, which is
given to distinguished Africans and Diasporans who are making a high-level impact
on a global scale.
Kady holds a master’s degree from the University of Sussex’s Institute of
Development Studies in the UK and a bachelor’s degree in Humanities and Justice
from CUNY’s John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
