Ruth Githumbi has over a decade of experience in the nonprofit sector, working with C3, C4, and PAC organizations on international water access, sanitation, hygiene, and progressive policy. A passionate relationship-builder, she develops transformational, customized fundraising strategies to advance organizational missions through philanthropy.
As a first-generation Kenyan-American woman and fundraising executive, Ruth prioritizes diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice in all aspects of her work. She holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in nonprofit management.
Ruth grew up in Houston, Texas, and now lives in Kenya with her family.
I left a career in law to follow a deeper calling in the impact sector, though my nonprofit journey began in grade school, helping my missionary father prepare newsletters and presentations for the organizations he founded. That early exposure, paired with my humble beginnings, sparked a lifelong belief in service and advocacy. I found my first nonprofit role through Craigslist — and I’ve never looked back.
Outside of work, you’ll find me reading, listening to music, or spending time with my daughter. I believe everyone deserves a good life, and I’m committed to closing the gap between the “haves” and “have nots” by putting empathy into action.
