Tammy Sutherns is a strategic communications and mission leadership professional with
deep experience at the intersection of healthcare, science, philanthropy, and social impact.
Over the course of her career, Tammy has helped organizations shape narratives that
strengthen fundraising, elevate thought leadership, engage stakeholders, and accelerate
mission-driven growth. She is particularly skilled at translating highly technical or
emotionally complex topics into communications that feel both credible and deeply human.
Her work spans biomedical research, global health, mental health, impact investing, and
healthcare innovation, with a consistent focus on helping organizations build trust and
momentum around ambitious missions. Tammy brings a journalist’s instinct for storytelling
together with a systems-oriented understanding of how communications influence behavior, partnerships, and organizational growth.
Originally from South Africa, Tammy now lives in Austin, Texas with her husband and two
young children. Outside of work, she is passionate about resilience, endurance sport,
entrepreneurship, and creating healthier futures for children and families navigating
adversity.
